# Common issues

Problems specific to the game mode. For install and startup errors, see [Common errors](/docs/getting-started/common-errors).

## The driver stops in the lane or too far from the kerb

GTA's driving AI behaves differently on different roads. About three stops in four end square and close to the kerb. If they stop badly on your map, tune `Config.Pullover` in `stops.lua`: `kerb_gap`, `kerb_inset` and `ahead` matter most. Use **U → Follow in front** to lead them somewhere better.

## The circle won't pick a car

- You need to be on duty and in an emergency-class vehicle.
- The car's centre has to be inside the circle (within `Config.Target.radius`, 2.6 m).
- Cars further than `lose_distance` (60 m) are let go.

## No staged violators

They only come while you're on duty and driving, every 3-5 minutes, and only from existing traffic near you. Check `Config.Staged.enabled` in `patrol.lua`. On an empty road there's nobody to stage.

## Booking does nothing

Stop inside the blue circle at a station; it only shows while someone's cuffed or in your back seat. If your map moves a station, change its position in `Config.Stations` (`patrol.lua`).

## A backup unit never comes

Dispatch tells you why when it says no: off duty, already on its way, no road for it to come from, nobody to collect. If it says yes but nothing arrives, the unit's car or crew model may not exist on your server. Check the model names in `Config.Backup.units` against your vehicles. A unit stuck in traffic turns up anyway after two minutes.

## No callouts

- `Config.Callouts.enabled` must be `true`.
- Calls come every 4-8 minutes while someone's on duty, at most two open at once.
- Each callout needs at least one location. A callout with every location in use is skipped.
- Callout offers may be held: say "resume callouts" to voice dispatch.
- Test with `/requestcall`.

## A callout I wrote doesn't show up

Look in the server console when c3r starts: an error in a callout file cancels that one call and prints why. Check `enabled = true`, a unique `id`, and at least one location.

## I changed a config value and nothing happened

Restart c3r after editing a file, or use `/c3rconfig`, which applies changes live. Keybinds are the exception: players who already joined keep their own; they rebind in **Settings → Key Bindings → FiveM → c3r**.
