CODE3RESPONSE
Backup and first aid
Call AI units to the scene by voice or from the wheels. They come from out of sight, do the job and drive off. One unit of each kind at a time.
Calling a unit
- By voice: hold H and say it: "send me an ambulance", "I need a tow truck", "requesting transport".
- From a stop: E or G → Backup ▸.
- From anywhere: hold G away from any car, or sat in your car, for the dispatch wheel.
The units
| Unit | Comes in | Does |
|---|---|---|
| Prisoner transport | A police transport van | Takes whoever's cuffed or in your back seat |
| Paramedics | An ambulance | Treats the hurt at the scene or takes them to hospital; pronounces the dead |
| Coroner | A van | Takes the dead away |
| Animal control | A ranger truck | Takes dead animals away |
| Fire department | A fire truck | Puts out fires |
| Mechanic | A van | Fixes your car |
| Road service | A utility truck | Fixes your car at the roadside |
| Taxi | A taxi | Collects anyone left without a ride |
| Cover unit | A patrol car, lights on, siren off | Stands by at your stop (up to 5 minutes) |
| Tow truck | A flatbed | Loads the stop's car (or the nearest empty one within 15 m) and takes it to impound |
Each vehicle, its crew and their look (livery, paint, extras, uniform) is in the configuration.
A unit appears 150-210 m from the scene, out of sight, and drives in. Stuck in traffic for two minutes, it turns up anyway. A tow truck that fails to load the same car three times just removes it.
When dispatch says no
The answer comes straight away, before anything spawns. Dispatch says why: you're off duty, that unit is already on its way, there's no road for it to come from, there's nobody in custody for transport, no vehicle to tow, or the stop's car is too far away for a tow.
In a chase
During a pursuit the dispatch wheel (hold G) and voice dispatch offer:
| Request | Sends |
|---|---|
| Backup code 1 ("light") | One patrol car from up ahead |
| Backup code 2 ("medium") | Two |
| Backup code 3 ("heavy") | Three, the heavy ones boxing the suspect in |
| Air support | A police helicopter with its searchlight |
At most six cars join one chase. They never shoot. With Stop Stick running, the first car of a request sometimes lays a stick across the suspect's path up ahead and pulls it once they're past.
With no chase on, code 1-3 sends a cover unit instead.
First aid
Press E beside someone who's down, dead or on the ground hurt:
| Action | Does |
|---|---|
| Check vitals | Whether they're alive and how bad it is |
| CPR | 15 seconds. It sometimes brings back someone who has only just died (35% a try, within 5 minutes of dying) |
| Apply pressure | On the wound |
| Call ambulance / Call coroner | Paramedics take the hurt to hospital and pronounce the dead; the coroner takes the dead away |
Paramedics also bring back some of the dead they find (40% by default, however long ago), whether you saw to them first or not.
